Yet again, another weird arsed trade offer

So in the trading block of my 14 team league, I place Jake Delhomme and Arnez Battle, while asking for an RB or TE. I don't expect top tier offers but the ones I have been getting, have left me baffled.

My current RB line-up is the under performing Reggie Bush (I am confident that will turn around soon) and Cedric Benson and I was lucky enough to pick up Chris Brown from Free Agents to fill my "W/R" position, but I log in today to find that I have been offered a trade of Michael Pittman for Chris Brown.

I read that Tampa are having a bit of an RB crisis at the moment, but why would I accept the trade of a starting RB who is doing ok, for a back-up RB who may or may not get the starting job?

Colour me confused, but I don;t get  the logic behind the offer

Well first of all Pittman is now the starter at TB.  Second Chris Brown is NOT the starter at Tennessee, Lindale White remains their starter.  But what really matters is not who starts and who doesn't but who is scoring fantasy points.  Chris Brown had 1 big game so far and that was game 1.  THe 2 games since he hasn't done anything.  Pittman has actually been more cosistent and with Cadillac out for the season, you need to evaluate which is worth more this season.  It's a close call.  White and Brown will continue to split carries at Tennessee and Pittman will split carries at TB with Ernest Graham.   It is anybody's guess as to which of the 2 will score more fantasy points or which week one will outshine the other.

Oh I forgot.  One big advantage Brown has over Pittman is that his BYE week is now behind him while Pittman still has his to come.  So Brown has more available games left than Pittman

You are right about Brown  not being a starter, I goofed there.

As always tim, thanks for your thoughts

I should have mentioned I have Chris Brown in 2 of my 3 leagues.  I must use him this next week because of other players having BYEs and I am hoping to see some of the Chris Brown from week 1 but I'm not holding my breath.  He has been very inconsistent the first 3 weeks.  BUT at least he has his BYE week behind him.  He has potential but as 2 of the 3 weeks show, he is also a risk of giving you 1 or 2 points.

Pittman is actually available I think in all 3 leagues.  I suspect someone will claim him this week with Cadillac being done.  BUT if Graham keeps getting the goal line carries, Pittman's value is not significant.  Maybe 6 points a week with an occasional 12.  For those looking to grab Pittman, note TB plays Indianapolis and Tennessee the next 2 weeks, both with better than avaerage Run Defenses and against Indianapolis at least the possibility of playing from behind and having to pass a lot.  That potential also exist with Tennessee who has looked very good in 3 games so far this season
