    Concerned about Defense

I have the Chicago D/ST in my league and was sitting pretty well with it until last week.  Now I'm looking at 4 more starters possibly sitting out against the Lions (Harris, Vasher, Briggs and Tillman) and Archuleta playing with a broken right hand, which has me worried about their possible production.

I have a couple of options to pick up a defense, with my main choice right now being Philly.

Should I sit the Bears D and go for one that seems to be hurting a little less or stick it out and hope for the best?

    Thanks in advance.

Yeah I have a similar problem but worse -- I have no other options. IF I had a chance to start PHI instead I would.  Detroit should score 3 TDs so it will be up to the Bears to score pts on sacks and TOs and ST to stay positive.

BUT it is a mixed bag for me since I start Kitna at QB.  Chicago's injuries hurt me on D/St but help with my QB.  I am hoping Hester gets a TD return.  And I am hoping CHI gets a few sacks to stay positive on fantasy points but I don't need Kitna throwing any INTs.  At least if he does, I get those points back on the flip side.

As to why I have no other choice, 2 of my star RBs are out injured -- SJAX and Rudi.  2 more are out with BYE weeks.  SO I had to drop SD as a D/ST to add Brian Leonard to my roster.  We don't have IR in that league :(    I also dropped B. Jacobs to make room for S. Morris of NE (So I had 3 injured Rbs before I dropped Jacobs)

PHI plays NYG and Eli has thrown some INTs and been sacked a few times this season.  Only real concern is that PHI secondary is also injury riddled and IF Westbrook can't go, PHI defense could be on the field longer than desired

I don't think you gotta worry too much about Chicago's Defense/Special Teams. The Lions throw a ton but you know Kitna's going to get sacked a few times and throw picks. Plus, they have Hester who's money on special teams. The Bears have so many playmakers that I would start them every week no matter what, the Bears and the Ravens are the only two defenses in fantasy that you can say that with.

This isn't last year.  Anyone playing the Bear's Defense last week scored a grand Total of 3 points.  That is not in the category of a "Start them every week" player.  In week 1 I sat the Bears D/ST and I scored 12 points higher with the D/ST team I played.  So 2 out of the first 3 weeks at least, there have been better D/ST to play than the Bears.

This year Minnesota has been the team to have every week but even with Minnesota you should pay attention to the match ups.  Baltimore has shown itself to be vulnerable to the passing game so don't be surprised if several other defenses are better fantasy picks this week than either the Bears or the Ravens.  The Vikings, Steelers, Patriots, and Texans have all been better D/ST to have so far this year than the Bears or Ravens.  That may change but I don't expect it to change this week.  Don't ignore the match ups or it can cost you a lot of points

And Fantasy football is all about scoring more fantasy points so if you have a defense that will score more fantasy points this week than the Ravens or the Bears, you start the one that is more likely to score more fantasy points.
