NASCAR Bank Of America 500 Expert Picks

Boy was that a wild race at Talladega. Only two good things occurred with those picks: I had the winner of the race and I picked the starting front row. Even the Yahoo Fantasy Experts wound up with bad days for the most part.

Ryan Newman was a bust that wound up car problems finishing him in last place, but around 50% of the people picked him.

Kevin Harvick, Travis Kvapil and Dale Jr. wound up in the same wreck.  That gave them only so-so efforts.  All three of them could have won the race; their cars were that solid.

Casey Mears was solid, but wound up getting shuffled back in the final few laps.

Michael Waltrip wound up leading one single lap late with a banged up car, but got shuffled to the back of the lead lap.  Both C list drivers I had wound up finishing below a bunch of other C list drivers that I feel did not get a lot of love on the drafts.

In the end though scoring this week was lower than usual, which made all of my picks look a bit better than they were.

A list active driver:

Matt Kenseth - This is the fourth time on this list for Kenseth. He has four solid finishes at this track in the past six races including a top ten in the past race. I think that he is going to have a solid day at this track and is a safe fantasy pick this week.

B list active drivers:

Mark Martin - This is the eighth time on this list for Martin. Has five solid finishes at this track in the past six races.  This is also one of the last times that he is going to be racing this season.  The #8 car has been really solid as late as well.

Kasey Kahne - Sixth time on this list for Kahne. He has three wins at the track in the past six races and I think he will continue to have success at this track.  His Sprint Cup performances as of late have not been all that great though.

C list active driver:

David Reutimann - This is the fifth time on this list for Reutimann. He has limited experience at this track, but finished 10th place the last time they came to the track.  His Sprint Cup performance as of late for a C list driver has been good if you throw out the Talladega race.

Sleeper Picks:

Carl Edwards - He does have best average finish data of all the drivers racing this weekend and I think he will continue to be great at this track.

Bobby Labonte - In his last six races he has nothing but top 20 finishes.  It is one of the few tracks he really likes. The driver has been doing okay finish wise in the Sprint Cup series as of late.

Paul Menard - A bit of a gamble with this driver.  He has limited starts at this track, but in his last race he did finish second.  I like him as a momentum play here.
