NASCAR Crown Royal Presents the Dan Lowry 400 Expert Picks

A quick overview of my picks from Talladega:

If it were not for all the leading that Tony Stewart did, his pick would have been a complete bust for me.  He was a super pick until his tire blew.

David Reutimann and Michael Waltrip did OK, but not great.  Jamie McMurray and Greg Biffle did OK, but not great.   Jeff Gordon was OK, not great.  Kevin Harvick was just OK as well, not great.

The data looked look great for Kurt Busch, but I wanted to stay away from him.  The data was awful for Kyle Busch and I thought I would stay away from him as well.

All in all, it was OK ... but not great.

A List Active Driver:

Denny Hamlin:  This is my second time picking Hamlin.  He is fourth place in the Sprint Cup points and has three top tens at this track.  I think he will continue to be hot at this track so I am picking him.

B Level Active Driver Picks:

Mark Martin:  This is my second time picking Martin.  A bit of a gamble with him since he is not super hot at this track, but this season he does have three top ten place finishes this year. I think he can get another top ten finish.

David Ragan:  First time pick for Ragan.  Only has two starts at this track with a best finish of third place.  After Talladega in 2007 he was 26th in the points, in 2008 he is 15th.  I think this driver is legit and can pull off another great finish.

C list Active Driver Pick.

Brian Vickers:  This will be the third time on my list for Vickers. He is currently 16th place in the Sprint Cup standings.  He is not great at this track, but I feel he can pull off a great finish.

Sleeper Picks:

Clint Boyer:  Boyer has four solid finishes at this track with no finish worse than 12th.  He is seventh place in the Sprint Cup points and should easily continue his hot streak at this track.

Kasey Kahne:  Kahne has a victory at track along with three more top ten finishes.  His performances this season as of late have not been super.  If you have not picked him in a while he is worth a look.

Travis Kvapil:  If you do not like Brian Vickers, try out this C list driver. The entire C level driver list has not done so hot (according to the data) at this track, but his 2008 season has gone really well so far.
