NHL Top Weekly Performances - Right Wings

This week there were not as many right wing performers as hot as their center counterparts. Out of the top 60 ranked right wings, there was one that averaged at least two points per game, whereas with the centers there were three. Nevertheless, the following wings helped their respective teams and the playoff pushes, post-trade-deadline day.

Mike Knuble (Philadelphia Flyers): A newcomer to the weekly best list, Knuble was HOT this past week. In the Flyers three games, Knuble tallied three goals and added four assists to average over two points a game for the week. Not coincidentally, Philadelphia won all three games, with Knuble's goal against Ottawa becoming the game winning goal. He has scored 25 goals and added 22 assists for 47 points in 65 games played. That ranks him tied for 28th in the NHL for goals scored.

Jerome Iginla (Calgary Flames):  The Flames' captain had a big week and seemed to be featured in the NHL highlights nightly. For the week, Iginla scored two goals and three assists in Calgary's four games. His season totals show 40 goals and 39 assists for a total 79 points in 66 games played. Combine that with the fact that he has also picked up 61 minutes in penalty minutes, and he is the whole package. He ranks 4th in the NHL in total points scored, 3rd in goals scored, and is the top ranked right wing in the league.

Alex Kovalev (Montreal Canadiens):  Montreal's climb towards the top position in the Eastern Conference and especially challenging Ottawa for the top spot in the Northeast Division is no coincidence that occurs at the same time that Alex Kovalev is having his most productive season in quite awhile. Last week, Kovalev totaled five assists in Montreal's three games. His playmaking was crucial to the results that Montreal gathered to go undefeated for the week, winning over Atlanta, Buffalo, and New Jersey. For the season, Kovalev has scored 29 goals with 39 assists on 66 games played. He is tied for 15th on goals scored in the NHL and 16th in overall points scored, as of Saturday night.
