Heading into this week, I have three sleepers for you that will change the
shape and direction of your fantasy season. One is riding a sacred hot
streak, while the other two are walking into golden opportunities caused by
injuries. Look for all three to be absolutely dominant this week.
David Krejci - C, Boston Bruins:
The Bruins 2nd round choice in the 2004 NHL entry draft didn't do much in his
first 41 games in the NHL, despite netting 74 points over 69 games last
year in the AHL. Over the past three games, however; he's been riding
quite the hot streak, having scored a goal
in all three. Obviously, then the rookie will score in all the Boston
games this week. Even if he doesn't do that, riding a hot streak and
playing four games in six days, should yield some good offensive production.
Andrew Ebbett - C, Anaheim Ducks:
The former Michigan Wolverine, who finished his collegiate career with 144
points, was recalled
Friday. The Ducks have a lot of injuries at center, and
as a result, Ebbet is projected
to be on a line with Teemu Selanne and Chris Kunitz. Centering a future
hall of famer and the team's third
leading scorer this season should allow Ebbett to get an assist or three, at
the least, over the course of this coming week.
Brad Stuart - D, Detroit Red Wings:
Despite being the 3rd overall choice in the 1998 Entry Draft, Stuart has not
been much of a fantasy producer this season, with only 21
points in 65 games. After arriving
in Detroit, especially given the Red Wings rash of defensive injuries with
Nicklas Lidstrom, Chris Chelios and Brian Rafalski all projected to be out this
week, look for Stuart's numbers to improve; especially if he can get some time
on that power play. Also pay attention to his defensive partner, Niklas
Kronwall.
