NBA Top Weekly Performances: Small Forward - Week 12

In an NBA world that thrives on excitement, Small Forwards are often left out of the hype and glory that follow Shooting Guards around like a plague.  That's not to say there aren't exciting SFs to watch, just that there are very few who get the hype they deserve.  The following three players each deserve the hype they get, if not more.  They are each leaders on their teams and guys that shouldn't need more than one look in Fantasy:

Caron Butler, WAS: With the loss of Gilbert Arenas this season, Caron Butler has stepped into the spotlight as the team's leader and has become the face of Washington.  Last week Butler averaged 20.5 points, 3.3 assists, 7.3 rebounds, 3 steals, 0.5 blocks and 3 steals in 40.3 minutes.  Butler has been healthy all season and will continue to play the way he has been playing since Arenas is out.  Butler is worth starting in any league.

LeBron James, CLE: Look for James to make several appearances on this list.  He lit the NBA on fire his rookie season and has kept that fire burning ever since.  He is the face of the Cavs, and it is known around the league that that is his team.  Last week he averaged 30.8 points, 6.3 assists, 12 rebounds, 6 steals, 1 block and 4 turnovers in 43.5 minutes.  LeBron broke his left index finger earlier this season an missed a few games, but it is rare for him to get hurt.  You'd be crazy not to start him on your team!

Carmelo Anthony, DEN: Carmelo Anthony was a good player before AI came to town, but with the addition of Iverson to the team, Anthony has benefitted greatly.  His play has improved with the leadership of Iverson there to help guide him.  Last week Anthony averaged 25 points, 2 assists, 10.7 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 2.3 turnovers in 36 minutes.  Anthony is in his fifth year in the NBA and his play is progressing to new levels.  Unless injured, keep him active!
