Do Charlotte Bobcats Have Fantasy Value?

Most people will look at that question and say that the answer is no.  Well, I beg to differ.  There are three Bobcats I will recommend you have on your fantasy team: Emeka Okafor, Gerald Wallace, and Raymond Felton.  Now some of you might be asking, "What about Jason Richardson?" or "What about Matt Carroll?"  My answer is simple: Richardson is too inconsistent to have a lot of fantasy value and Carroll doesn't see enough minutes to make an impact on your fantasy team.  If Richardson can get 20+ points and 10 rebounds on a consistent basis, then we can talk.

Gerald Wallace's stats speak for themselves.  He is generally consistent and has relatively few turnovers.  He is one of the most underrated players in the NBA, and definitely deserving of an All-Star spot.  He is averaging 18.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.9 steals in 36.3 minutes per game.  He is all over the court and constantly makes plays for the rest of team.  His free-throw shooting is awful (69.1%), but he makes up for it by shooting 45.7% from the field and 31% from beyond the arc.  He's worth starting as a No. 2 or 3 Forward in any league.

Emeka Okafor hit a slump for a couple of weeks in November, but he's turned that around and is getting back to normal.  He averages 14 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, and consistently gets those numbers or better.  Add to that roughly two blocks and a steal in every game, and he does well at the five spot.  He shoots 52% from the field, but unfortunately that is also what he shoots from the line.  He's definitely worth a bench spot on your team as a backup, but keep an eye on him because he's likely to earn a starting spot in most fantasy leagues as he keeps getting better this season.

Raymond Felton is one that you want to use as a backup.  He isn't having a stellar season, but he is definitely better than he was last year.  Looking purely at his numbers, Felton is having a good season, but not as good as some other guards in the league.  He averages 15.6 points, 6.6 assists, 3 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 3 turnovers in 35.6 minutes per game.  He shoots 42.6% from the field, 34.5% on three pointers, and 77.7% from the line.  You'd like to see his turnovers go down and his free throw shooting improve, but he will be one of the better guards in the league when he reaches his potential.  Obviously, he's not there yet, so check the Bobcats schedule before you start him.

I would encourage you to pick up any of these three players if they are available in your league.  Each of them is valuable in their own way, and all three are consistent players, which is key in fantasy.
