• MLB Top Weekly Performances – Center Fielders

  What a rough week for center fielders. It wasn't exactly easy picking the best performers because there was a lot of mediocrity this week. Several star players failed to do anything worthwhile, but it seemed like the lesser players didn't even try too hard to take advantage of that and have a big week themselves. There were some alright stats by some players, but all-in-all it was probably the roughest position of any fantasy performer this week. Either way, those that did put up the better... • MLB Top Weekly Performances – Center Fielders

  The centerfield position was very strong this week. It wasn't exactly the players you would have expected, save for Beltran since he's been hot lately, but the others were extremely solid this week and helped several fantasy owners. It's great to see more examples of five tool players this week. Beltran has been one of the best in the game for the last few years, but now all of a sudden a player like Coco Crisp showcases power and speed. Sadly, I don't believe Willy Taveres is going...   This week's crop of centerfielders is definitely an odd bunch. Grady Sizemore is the best of the bunch, naturally, but the others are quite a surprise.   It is extremely hard to pick centerfielders because many players of other positions have CF eligibility.   The best thing about fantasy baseball is that surprises are around every corner. You never know when a lesser-known player will all of a sudden rise in the ranks and outperform elite players. This week Shane Victorino outperformed several elite centerfielders and has been priceless to fantasy owners. Victorino has always had some value, but the same can't be said for Cody Ross.   The top performers this week seem to be all different types of players. First off, Josh Hamilton is hitting every pitch while trying to capture the triple crown. Secondly, Jacoby Ellsbury is annoying opposing batters by catching anything hit in his direction, plus he's shown a good mixture of power and speed.   Centerfield seems to be a fantasy hotspot this year. It is extremely versatile, meaning players of other positions can gain eligibility, but even the true centerfielders are playing at insanely high levels.   This week's batch of centerfielders really performed well. Along with the resurgence of Mark Kotsay was the terrific week of young Carlos Gomez. It seems to be a kind of passing of the torch, ushering in a new era of hard-nosed players. Kotsay was always one of the players that would sacrifice his body in order to win.
