This past week's top performances feature one repeater and two you may have
thought you wouldn't see up here this season. Andy Pettitte managed another two
win week, C.C. Sabathia is fighting his way back and Chad Billingsley is trying
to have a winning season.
Gold
Andy Pettitte (New York Yankees):
Andy pitched awesome last week. There is
no other way to put it. He threw 12 innings, earned himself two wins, while
striking out eight and holding a 1.50 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Andy improved to 9-5
on the season and has won his last four straight and this is his second two win
week. That's better than good enough for the gold.
Silver
C.C. Sabathia (Cleveland Indians):
C.C. is in the running for as a
potential bust this year, but after seeing what he did last week, he rightfully
deserves the silver performance this week. He has pitched very well his past
four games and has three wins from them, would be four but the Indians gave up
runs and he didn't get a decision in one. Last week though he pitched eight
innings, earned the win while striking out 11 and having a 0.00 ERA and 0.75
WHIP. Sabathia only gave up four hits and two walks during the game also. There
are other pitchers who have won two games this week but the road C.C. has been one,
this is a silver performance for him.
Bronze
Chad Billingsley (Los Angeles
Dodgers): Chad got hit hard last
month, but the past two weeks, he is fairly quite well. He earned his third
straight win when he won two games last week. He 12 innings, gave up 11 hits,
struck out 11 and allowed four walks and had a 2.25 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. Chad is
on a good roll and I expect to see him here again even though he is 7-7 on the
season but his last six wins came from the last 11games and couples of those
were no decisions.
