Here are a couple players to look into trading this week; their value is
high or decent and you should be able to turn your team around a little bit
with their help on the trading block.
Justin Upton (Ari - OF) - Upton's
fantasy value has been very high lately. He has the potential to finish in the
top 20, and maybe even 10, outfields by season's end. He will be a serious
talent in the coming years, but right now, he is a gem that just needs
polishing. Justin was awesome in April, then slumped horribly in May and has
gone 1 for 18 and batting an eyesore of .56. A lot of owners believe he's going
to pull through, so trade him while his value is high.
Rick Ankiel (STL - OF) - Rick
still holds a decent trade value despite his May and early June slump.
The past month, he has gone 12 for 60 with three home runs, nine RBIs and
batted .200. Fantasy GMs can't afford to have one of their outfielders going up
and down each month and not knowing what to except. (Not like any of us do with
other players anyway) Trade him to
someone who likes him, which seems to be a lot of people ...
Pedro Martinez (NYM - SP) - Do
you know what 5.35 stands for? Change for your lunch? Maybe a gallon of gas
soon? Not yet, but it's the difference between Pedro's ERA and the league
leaders ERA. Martinez has thrown in three outings so far this season and
doesn't have his typical stuff. The juice isn't worth the squeeze for him. He's
given up 21 hits and 11 runs while only striking out eight in three games.
Those are Pedro numbers by any means, and he isn't helping the terrible Mets
either. If he wants to be good this season, he can only relay on pitching a
shutout because there isn't any run support for him. Same as Ankiel, find
someone who likes him and trade him, which are everywhere.
J.D. Drew (BOS - OF) - With David
Ortiz out of the Red Sox lineup, everyone thinks they are getting the
production out of Drew that is worth 75 million dollars ...
I'm sorry; I needed a minute to compose myself from laughing so hard.
This past month, J.D. went 24 for 68 with six home runs, 18 RBIs and batted
.353. I must admit, that is impressive for Drew this season, but isn't
worth 75 million dollar salary. GMs can find a number of consistent rookies
batting those same numbers, if not better, for under a 500k salary. Which means nothing in the fantasy world (unless
you're in a rare salary league), but right now, J.D. is overhyped and you
should be able to get someone good for him on the trading block.
