Last week, The Chicago White Sox basically produced three of the weekly
sleepers by themselves. This week, my sleepers feature a few utility players and
two pitchers. Good luck out there!
Maicer Izturis (LAA - 2B, 3B, SS)
- Who? Maicers season production has all been from last week. Last week Izturis
went 11/26 with five runs, two home runs, eight RBIs, a stolen base and batted
.423. This brought Maicers season numbers up to three home runs, 23 RBIs, 27
runs, seven stolen bases and an average of .256. I'd keep an eye on him and see
what he does next week.
Alexei Ramirez (CWS - 2B, OF) - Ramirez
is one funky looking dude, but he sure can play baseball. He has been
picking up lately and has had a few three hit games too. I think next week he's
going turn it up a little more as well. Last week Alexei went 11 for 24 with
four runs, a homer, six RBIs and batter .458. He is only owned in 4% of leagues
too.
Nick Swisher (CWS - 1B, OF) -
Nick has played first base and all positions of the outfield this season -- can
you say versatile? Nick also has a seven game hit streak going. Last week
he went 8 for 25 with eight runs, a homer, three RBIs and batted .320. Sure,
his season numbers are to pretty but most people have a place on the bench and
can always use a 1B or OF at some point and he's going to be hot again next
week. He's owned in less than 30% of leagues so you have a good chance at
grabbing him.
Joe Crede (CWS - 3B) - Joe had an
awesome week last week. If you need a good third baseman, go grab him now if
he's available. He is owned in 69% of leagues and 15% of those GMs added him
today. And after his showing the last three games, there is good reason. GMs
went and dropped him thinking he had a bad wrist injury and now he went 9 for
19 with seven runs, five home runs, ten RBIs and batted .474. Those are some top
performance stats, yet he's still not owned in over 30% of leagues. Tisk tisk.
Kyle Lohse (STL - SP) - Kyle has
won his last four starts and doesn't look to be cooling down yet. He's been
good for at least six innings a start and gives up a few hits every start but
who doesn't. He's owned in 26 % of leagues, mostly picking him up this past
week seeing that he's for real now. He went to 6-2 on the season with 34
strikeouts and a 3.87 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. I'd have to say those are some good
sleeper numbers and people are just starting to notice.
Mike Mussina (NYY - SP) -
GMs need to pick him up, he has one lousy start so they drop him, then he does
good and they pick him up again. He has been pitching well lately and has won
his last three games. He is 9-4 on the season with a 4.01 ERA and 1.28. He
always finished the season with good numbers and yet he is only owned by 43% of
GMs. He is worth having on your team. He has only lost one game in his last
nine starts.
