MLB Second basemen had a very strong week last week. I could have written a
top 10 and not run out of worthy players who batted over .300 easily and made
big differences on their teams. Here are the Gold, Silver and Bronze for this
week.
Gold
Maicer Izturis (LAA - 2B, 3B, SS) -
Who? Maicers season production has all been from this past week. Last
week Izturis went 11/26 with five runs, two home runs, eight RBIs, a stolen
base and batted .423. This brought Maicers season numbers up to three home runs,
23 RBIs, 27 runs, seven stolen bases and an average of .256. I'd keep an eye on
him and see what he does next week.
Silver
Jose Lopez (SEA - 2B) - Very good
week for Lopez; he has turned it up a notch. Jose went 10 for 26 with six
runs, three home runs, six RBIs and hit .385 on the week. Lopez has 75 hits on
the season already and is nearly his last years numbers already only 61 games
into the season.
Bronze
Chase Utley (PHI - 2B) - While
Ryan Howard tries to find his hot spot again; Utley has been filling in, and
filling in strongly. Last week Chase went 9 for 24 with five runs, two
home runs, seven RBIs with a stolen base and batted .375. Utley just continues
to add to his amazing numbers, who happens to be leading the NL
in HRs and RBIs.
