This week seems to be the comeback week for fantasy first basemen. Ryan Garko was once considered a legit fantasy performer, but he seemed to get lost in Travis Hafner's shadow. Then Jason Giambi began to grow a mustache and started to channel Samson himself. To follow it off the fantasy cowboy that is Kevin Millar sneaked onto the list and hit some long balls of his own; once again making him a fantasy somebody. These three players put together some truly impressive stats this week and deserve all the recognition and applause they can get.
Gold
1.) Ryan Garko (1B - Cleveland Indians) - Garko has been on a tear and it couldn't come at a better time. Travis Hafner is currently on the DL, therefore Garko picked a terrific time to step up an provide some much needed offense. He's had a mini hitting streak going on, and has been a catalyst for the team. Garko's most impressive game was one in which he collected four hits and six RBI. To say he's been dominant is an understatement. His stat line for the week is as follows: 13/29, 8 runs, 1 HR, 9 RBI, 0 SB, .448 AVG. He may not have as much power as Travis Hafner, but Ryan Garko is producing like an elite first baseman at this point in time.
Silver
2.) Jason Giambi (1B - New York Yankees) - He's back! Giambi has been on an absolute tear since May 17. He now has as many homeruns as he did all of last season, and it's only early June! His homeruns weren't just lucky shots either. Some of his homers were complete moon shots, not to mention many were either game winners or tiebreakers. He is playing like the Jason Giambi that was on steroids. I don't know if it's the porno mustache or the golden thong, but Giambi looks like he did 10 years ago. His stat line for the week is as follows: 8/20, 4 runs, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 0 SB, .400 AVG. He seems to be a fantasy force again and it's all because of a scrappy porno mustache and a golden thong. Who would have thought?
Bronze
3.) Kevin Millar (1B - Baltimore Orioles) - Cowboy up! Millar has always been one of those extremely pesky hitters. His numbers haven't always been great, but he just seems to annoy pitchers and cause them to make a mistake. This week Millar took advantage of several mistakes and had one of his best fantasy weeks in recent memory. His stats for the week are as follow: 10/27, 5 runs, 3 HR, 7 RBI, 0 SB, .370 AVG. He currently leads the Orioles in homeruns and could possibly match his career mark in homeruns, if he can continue his current pace that is. He has definitely earned his way back onto the fantasy map.
