MLB Weekly Sleepers (5/11)

There are some sleepers this week that are going to wake up and you better be paying attention otherwise you'll lose out on them.

Ryan Ludwick (STL): This kid has been tearing teams up of late. Ludwick went 11 for 21 with three home runs, eight RBI's and an average of .347 last week and he's now owned in 91% of fantasy leagues. When I started writing this, it was 90%; three days ago it was only 30%. Notice something here? He's a sleeper, but only to about 9% of people right now. So go get him off the waiver if you are one of the lucky GMs that are able to do so; otherwise attempt to trade for him.

Vicente Padilla (Texas): In four of the last five games Padilla has pitched, he's been close to dominating. Other than one hiccup against Detroit that ended up in seven runs, he's only had one earned run against him. He did rack up 16 strikeouts last week as well. His season ERA is beautiful (3.02) and he is 5-2 with 33 K's and a1.40 WHIP on the year. Padilla is owned in 10.4% of leagues, so GM's should be able to pick him up easily, unless you're in my leagues then you're not getting him, sorry.

Eugenio Velez (San Francisco): Velez was filling in for Omar Vizquel, but the Giants manager Bruce Bochy has said Velez will be staying in the big leagues now. Velez only batted .105 last week and .223 all season, but he's a speedy little guy and I think he'll come around quickly. Just mark my word and keep an eye on this kid; there isn't much more to say about him.

Moises Alou (New York NL): Believe it or not, nobody is paying attention to Alsou.  Is it because he's on the Mets?  Or is it because he's been battling injuries recently?  Either way, he's batting .292 this season with only four RBI, but has an OBP of .320 and a SLG of .333. He has picked up big time in the past week, raising his batting average nearly fifty points, while knocking out seven hits.  He is currently owned in 13.4% of leagues and has been picked up by half that percentage this past week. He'd make a great backup outfielder or utility guy right now.
