Left Field provided us with a few surprises this week.
One from a player on a nice recent hitting streak, and one who hasn't been
heard from in a while. Then, there's someone who should be no surprise to
anyone on this list.
Gold
Ryan Ludwick - OF - St. Louis Cardinals - Ludwick has been in the lineup and on fire as of late,
hitting nearly .500 and slugging the ball all over the yard as of late.
We'll see how long it continues for, but for now, one should definitely keep
their eye on him. Here's Ludwick past week: He batted .478 (11/23) 4 HR,
9 RBI, 5 Runs Scored, 8 Ks, and had an OPS of 1.610.
Silver
Garret Anderson - OF - Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim which
isn't really Los Angeles at all but 30 miles away in Orange County near
Disneyland - Once upon a time, Anderson was
considered "the most underrated player in baseball". After
carrying that designation for three years or so, he became the "player
who's been called underrated so many times he's become overrated".
Then he disappeared, and zombies took over his body (except when they played
the Red Sox, then Anderson showed up and ripped the hearts out of Boston fans
on a regular basis). Now? He's back, and if he keeps putting up
numbers like this, he just might become "underrated" again.
Anderson week in review: He batted .400 (8/20) 3 HR, 10 RBI, 4 Runs Scored, 3
Ks, and had an OPS of 1.379.
Bronze
Carl Crawford - OF - Tampa Bay (Devil) Rays - He's good. What else is there to say? He's sick
in the field; he's sick at the plate and should be an All-Star for the bulk of
his career. Here's what he did last week: He batted .304 (7/23) 1 HR, 5
RBI, 4 Runs Scored, 4 SBs, 3 Ks, and had an OPS of .792.
