MLB Waiver Wire - Week 6

It may be hard to find good talent looking at the waiver wire/free agents list this week. A bunch of jumbled numbers and trying to decide which guy is best for your team can become very frustrating very quickly. Hopefully reading over this can help you and any potential additions you were pondering. Good Luck out in the field.

Craig Monroe - LF (Minnesota): With the Minnesota Twins parting ways with several veterans, a lot of room has been made for some other players such as Monroe. He is free in nearly every league, so go grab him before someone else does. Batting .278 this season with two home runs, nine RBI's, an OBP of .316 and SLG of .481. Monroe is in his 5th season and has become a solid asset after being acquired from the Chicago Cubs.

Billy Butler - 1B (Kansas City): I've been watching this rookie for awhile and know he's going to be good soon - in fact, he is already starting to come around. Batting .283 this season with one home run, 12 RBI's, an OBP of .339 and SLG of .354, why wouldn't you pick him up? There is a good chance he is free in your league, being owned in only 21.8% of leagues and a 0.7% drop rate last week. Butler is going to be better than his projected stats.

Fred Lewis - OF (San Francisco): Lewis is hot right now and people are starting to realize that. He was owed in 44.3% last week and another 2.4% of managers have picked him up since then. With a .320 batting average, three home runs, eight RBI's, OBP of .402, and a SLG of .524 he's making himself known in San Francisco.

Vincente Padilla -SP (Texas Rangers): Padilla, a nine-year veteran, is owned in less than 3% of fantasy leagues. So far this season, he has been consistent. Not a superstar, but mediocre and a good fill in if you need a last minute guy. He's a 50/50 chance if you look at his career stats. If you can look past his season WHIP of 1.53 and see the 4-2 record, 25 strikeouts and 3.50 ERA, you should consider picking him up as a spare.

Andy Sonnanstine - SP (Tampa Bay): Why Sonnanstine isn't owned by more GM's is beyond me. I want to say "just go look at his stats and add him instead of me telling you about him." He's a first year pitcher and is making sure he has a starting spot on the Devil Rays pitching staff.  On the season, he has a 4.21 ERA, 4-1 record, 21 strikeouts and 1.16 Whip. He's only owed by 16.2% of GM's and 11.1% just added him in the past week. Catch the drift? Jump on the bandwagon and go grab him. I'm going to right now since he's available in my league.

Cristian Guzman - SS (Washington): Guzman was the most added SS last week off the waivers with a 5.8% addition rate, which brought his owned percentage to 48.1%. Batting .309 this season with three home runs and 14 RBI's, he's worth picking up.

Salomon Torres - RP (Milwaukee): Torres is sneaking under the radar of fantasy managers looking for a relief pitcher. He's owned in 15% of fantasy leagues and that number increased this past week, most likely from people watching a Milwaukee (Gagne *gag*) game or just stumbling upon him like I did. He has a 3-0 record, 18 strikeouts, an ERA of 2.95, but only one save so far. He may eventually takes over as the Brewers closer, so grab him while you still can.
