There were seven two game winners last week and a lot of good produces to
talk about. It was hard to focus on just three but there were three that seemed
to need to be addressed. Roy Halladay bringing back his stuff, Andy Sonnanstine
showing more of what he's got and Bronson Arroyo fighting to stay in the
rotation and pitch like we know he can.
Gold
Roy Halladay (Tor) - Halladay is
having another wonderful season. He's ERA is a little high on the season but
otherwise he is pitching like typical Roy. Last week we threw 16 innings,
earned two wins, struck out 13 while having a 1.12 ERA and 0.69 WHIP. One of
Halladay's game was a complete game where he only allowed four hits and nothing
else. Good enough for the gold performance.
Silver
Andy Sonnanstine (TB) - This
isn't Andy's first time on the top weekly performances and with good reason.
Last week Andy threw 14 innings, earned two wins, struck out six and had a 0.64
ERA and 0.86 WHIP for the week. He improved his season record to 10-3 now with
4.31 ERA.
Bronze
Bronson Arroyo (Cin) - Last week's
performance was a complete 180 compared to his seasons stats. (6-7, 5.82 ERA,
91 K's) He will probably be picked up by a lot of GMs now if they pay attention
to week by week. Bronson threw 12 innings, earned two wins, struck out nine and
had an ERA of 0.75 and 1.25 WHIP. Both games he pitched six innings apiece and
gave up five hits in each game. Compared to the game before that where he threw
one inning and got destroyed with 11 hits and 10 runs it looks like Bronson has
turned a new page.
