MLB Top Weekly Performances - Short Stops

Would you believe that no SS hit more than one home run this week?  Short stops have been slow to produce runs directly this year, and this week was no exception.  The name at the top surprises nobody, but his numbers might.

Gold

Hanley Ramirez (Florida Marlins):  Want proof that Ramirez is worth the $70 million the Marlins are planning to pay him?  This week was a down week for Ramirez, and he still finishes at the top of the SS list.  Ramirez did not hit any homers and drove in only two runs, but he hit .500 for the week with two stolen bases and 10 runs scored.  A down week indeed.

Silver

Eric Bruntlett (Philadelphia Phillies):  Go figure- Bruntlett finally enjoys a strong week just as Jimmy Rollins was ready to return to the starting lineup.  Bruntlett managed a .333 AVG with a homer, eight RBI, six runs scored, and a SB in his last week as the starting SS for the Phillies this season (at least, that's what Rollins owners hope).

Bronze

Derek Jeter (New York Yankees):  It took Jeter 129 ABs to finally hit a home run this season.  That was enough to rank him among the leaders in HR for a SS this week, but he actually provided value in other ways.  For instance, his .385 AVG and six runs scored, while driving in three.  As a result of his power surge, Jeter was actually slated to hit cleanup on Sunday, but rain spoiled those plans.
