Relief pitchers weren't just closing game this past week, they were winning
them too. There weren't any flawless performance this week, but there were a
bunch of quality pitching going on. Brandon Morrow playing replacement and
trying to keep the relief spot, C.J. Wilson really zoning and pitching like a
relief pitcher is supposed to and Francisco Cordero saving and winning games.
Gold
Brandon Morrow (Sea) - Morrow has
been filling in for Putz while he is out and is showing he may be there to stay
in the relief position. Brandon threw 4.1 innings, earned a win, three saves,
struck out five and had an ERA of 0.00 and WHIP of 0.23. He is also a free
agent in most leagues if you need a replacement.
Silver
C.J. Wilson (Tex) - Wilson has
been on the past week. He threw four innings, one inning a game and earned
three saves. It would have been four but the fourth wasn't a save opportunity,
he just came in and shut the Phillies down. Throughout the four innings, the
only thing Wilson allowed was one walk while posting an ERA of 0.00 and WHIP of
0.25. Awesome performance but had to take silver this week.
Bronze
Francisco Cordero (Cin) - Here is
something a little different. A relief pitcher with a season record of 4-1,
2.50 ERA and 17 saves and last week Francisco added to that. Last week Cordero
threw five innings, earned two wins, two saves and struck out three. One of his
wins came from a blown save because he gave up a hit and run leading to a
weekly ERA of 1.80 and WHIP of 1.40. Good enough for bronze this week.
