Sleepers of the Week - Week 6
Looking for that extra guy to push you over to win this week? Starring at
your waiver wire trying to decide which guy to take the chance with and run?
You may not get a seasonal star out of a potential sleeper, but they may pull
you through the week in a jam when you need to replace an injured regular.
Shawn Hill - SP (Washington Nationals):
Hill doesn't even have a month of experience under his belt, but in his last 13 innings of
work, he has struck out six and allowed only three earned runs. For the season,
he is 0-0 with a 3.50 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 18 innings. He's pitching this
Tuesday against Houston and then again on Sunday against Florida. A good outing
and win looks to be a real good possibility for this youngster. He is
owned in less than 40% of leagues so you should be able to grab him for week 6.
Aaron Rowand - OF (San Francisco):
Rowand is someone I actually picked up for myself after seeing his numbers.
He hasn't exactly been consistent this season, but he's starting to pick up on a
week to week basis. Batting .383 with 3 home runs and 15 RBI's on the season,
he isn't doing too bad (overall) at all. Over the next three games San
Francisco is playing Pittsburgh and he has good numbers against them; 3 home
runs, 10 RBI's, batting average of .325 and OBP of .413 so he may be having a
good few games coming up.
Geovany Soto - IF (Chicago Cubs):
A lot of people have been watching to see if Soto can make it in the majors
and I think he has showed everyone he can. Go get him off the waiver/free agent
lists and put him in as a starter right now. He is one of the best hitting
catchers this season currently hitting .333, with 5 homers, 20 RBIs, and 12
runs scored. Go get him.
Scott Rolen - IF (Toronto):
If you dropped Rolen like I and many other people did, go pick him up again
if you need a 3rd baseman. He may be starting out slow, but a
perfect sleeper. Batting .316, 1 homeruns, and 4 RBI's, it will only be a
matter of time until he is back playing like the Scott Rolen we have known the
past few years.
John Lannan - SP (Washington):
John Lannan is the Nationals ace right now, and he is free in a lot of
leagues. Prior to last night's hiccup, he had pitched 19 scoreless inning this season consecutively, going
2-3 with a 3.74 ERA and 24 strikeouts. He could become a permanent player in
the starting position for many fantasy GMs if picked up now.
