Bruno Boys Weekly Rundown - Week 6

Heading into week 6 of the NFL season fantasy football owners are faced with many tough decisions. There is an ever growing list of injuries and four teams on a bye, so patching together a starting line-up has faired difficult for some and it seems to get harder by the day.

As you try and piece together your week 6 line-up you will need the most up-to-date player information and we have that for you right here in the Bruno Boys Weekly Rundown (fantasy-style)

--------------------

Brian Westbrook breaks two ribs Week 5, ruled out for Week 6

Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook broke two ribs week 5 when the Eagles lost to the Washington Redskins. Westbrook who has already been hampered by an injured ankle has been ruled out for the week 6 match-up against the San Francisco 49ers.

Westbrook has been a huge disappointment early this season due to all the injuries. He has been limited since the ankle injury in week 3 and owners who drafted him as a top five overall pick in fantasy drafts have been scrambling to make up for the loss. With Westbrook out Correll Buckhalter will once again get the start. The 49ers have given up 128.4 YPG and 6 rushing touchdowns on the season so Buckhalter could be worth using as a bye week or injury replacement.

--------------------

Kellen Winslow hospitalized, could be game-time decision Monday night

After missing two straight days of practice Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow has been hospitalized for what was an unspecified illness, but has since been rumored to be because of swollen testicles.

Winslow if currently listed as questionable on the team’s injury report. He has a 50/50 chance to start week 6 versus the undefeated New York Giants. If you have other options at tight end this week you may want to use them, unless the Browns announce Winslow fit to play by Sunday; you don’t want to wait until Monday and end up without a tight end.

Marques Colston participates in practice drills this week, return likely versus Raiders

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marques Colston has participated is practice drills this week and appears ready to return from a thumb injury suffered week 1. He has been catching balls in practice without any setback and seems likely to return for the Saints game this week versus the Oakland Raiders.

This is great news for Colston owners who have been anxiously awaiting his return. If he plays this week he will likely do so only in 3 and 4 wide receiver sets so keep expectations low. Consider him a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3 this week, but he definitely will be a welcome addition to your fantasy team and will once again be a WR1 this season.

--------------------

Anquan Boldin out again in Week 6, Steve Breaston to get another start

The Arizona Cardinals will be without wide receiver Anquan Boldin again this week against the Dallas Cowboys as he is still recovering from the sinus fracture suffered week 4. This is obviously bad news for Boldin owners, but it is good news for owners who jumped on his back-up Steve Breaston.

Breaston has been a solid replacement for Boldin as he has had 16 receptions in the past two weeks for nearly 200 receiving yards and a touchdown. Consider Breaston a low-end WR2 or high-end WR3, as he will start opposite Larry Fitzgerald against the Cowboys.

--------------------

Carson Palmer still suffering from elbow injury, ruled out versus the Jets

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer who has been nursing and injured elbow on his throwing arm has been ruled out for week 6 against the New York Jets. Palmer played through the injury week 5 versus the Cowboys and had a solid game. The Bengals hope that by resting Palmer this week it will give the injury time to heal and he can return to his starting role on a weekly basis.

Ryan Fitzpatrick will start in place of Palmer against the Jets. Fitzpatrick is an inexperienced quarterback with very little fantasy value. His lack of experience also hurts the value of Bengal receivers TJ Housmandzadeh and Chad Johnson. Consider Housh a WR2 and Johnson WR3 or flex option until Palmers returns.

--------------------

Matt Hasselbeck misses three straight days of practice, likely out versus Packers

Seattle Seahawks starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has missed three straight days of practice this week and is officially a game-time decision week 6 and will likely miss the game. With back-up quarterback Seneca Wallace also banged up it appears that third stringer Charlie Frye will likely start against the Green Bay Packers.

Frye has previously started in Cleveland and showed signs of being a solid quarterback, but has never been very consistent. If Frye does start in place of Hasselbeck the Seahawks passing game will likely suffer and force Seattle to rely on Julius Jones and the running game. Consider all Seahawk receivers a risky start and the Packers will likely stack the box against the run to try and contain Jones. It could be another long day for the Seahawks.

--------------------

Roddy White missed practice, listed as questionable week 6

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White collided with teammate Lawyer Milloy this week and missed practice on Thursday and Friday. White is officially listed as questionable for the Falcons math-up with the Chicago Bears on Sunday with a head injury.

White says that we will play this week, but keep an eye on this situation to make sure there aren’t any setbacks. If he starts consider him a solid WR2 option and he has continued to improve each week and he is building a good rapport with rookie quarterback Matt Ryan.

Bruno Boys Game of the Week (fantasy style) - New England Patriots at the San Diego Chargers

This is not the same match-up we thought it was going to be when the 2008 season schedule came out. This game was predicated to be one of the best regular season math-ups as both teams came into the season with high expectations. As we all know both teams lost key players as Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Chargers line backer Shawn Merriman both had season ending knee surgeries. But both teams still have plenty of players with significant fantasy value.

Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers who has been having a breakout year is the # 14 ranked QB on the Bruno Boys Weekly Rankings and is a low-end QB1 option. He will be without his #1 wide receiver Chris Chambers this week due to an injured ankle. Antonio Gates is the #3 ranked tight end by the Bruno Boys and is a must start TE1. Wide receiver Vincent Jackson could get more involved in the offense with the injury to Chambers and should be consider a low-end WR3. Running back Ladainian Tomlinson who has been hampered by a toe injury has struggled, but with the Patriots run defense giving up 124.8 yard per game, Tomlinson could be in line for a big game and is the #4 ranked running back by the Bruno Boys. He is a must start RB1.

Matt Cassel is starting to look better as the Patriots quarterback as he finally started to find a bit of a groove versus the 49ers week 5. Cassel is the #15 ranked quarterback on the Bruno Boys Weekly Rankings and is a low-end QB1. Wide receiver Randy Moss had his best game of the season against the 49ers as he went for over 100 yards receiving and a touchdown. Moss is the #3 ranked wide receiver by the Bruno Boys and is a must start. Wide receiver Wes Welker and tight end Ben Watson both look to get more involved in the offense and could have solid days against the Chargers struggling pass defense. Consider Welker a low-end WR2 and Watson a low-end TE1. The Patriots running game has struggled and there is no clear-cut #1 starter and none of the Patriots four running backs are recommended starters.

This may not be the game we originally anticipated, but with a rash of injuries and bye weeks upon us both teams offer fantasy players worth starting on your fantasy rosters.
