Stinky Tees Expert Draft League - Round 6-8 Results

The Bruno Boys have selected their first five picks in the Stinky Tee's Expert League and we couldn't have dreamt of a better beginning as we already have 2 RB1's in Frank Gore and Marshawn Lynch, a top WR in T.J. Houshmandzadeh, the best TE in Jason Witten and the best RB3 in the league with Darren McFadden. You cannot ask for better draft results than this, but we are going for more!

The Bruno Boys strive for perfection. Perfection does not exist, and we do know that, so some picks are better than others, but so far the moons and stars have been aligned perfectly! We are about to discuss what happened to the Bruno Boys during the Sixth-Eighth Rounds and our thoughts on the draft results. Bargain (players went later than they should have) picks, Even Money (players went where they should have) picks and Overpaid (players that went too early) picks! Since we are getting later in the draft we are not going to stretch out this column by trying to keep you on your seats in describing why teams went for a WR3 or RB4. Rather we are going to discuss why certain players should or should not go at this time. Our favorites and not so favorites you could say.  Our strategy for the rest of the draft is to get as solid of players as possible that fit the needs of our teams without overpaying, continuously looking for bargains and filling our bench with talent! And of course not overpaying for a K or a DST. Let's get right down to it!

Below you can see the Sixth-Eighth Round results for  "The Stinky Tee's Expert League Live Draft" which took place on Yahoo, August 9th, 2008. Companies that are represented in this league includes Stinky Tee, Sirius Radio, WFanFantasy Football Nerd, WINS radio, BMS radio and of course, the Bruno Boys.

The scoring is standard, and all passing touchdowns are worth 4 points, 25 passing yards per point.  This is a 12 team league and the Bruno Boys ended up with the 9th pick in the draft.

2008 Stinky Tee's Live Draft - Round 6 Results

6.1:    Ed Hochuli Fan Club: Dwayne Bowe (KC)
6.2:    F Tiki: San Diego DST
6.3:    Smelly Socks: Rudi Johnson (Cin)

6.4:    Bruno Boys Fantasy Football:  Roddy White (Atl)

6.5:    Cobra Kai Dojo: Laveranues Coles (NYJ)
6.6:    The Expertiest: Chris Chambers (SD)

6.7:    Fantasy Football Nerd: Hines Ward (Pit)
6.8:    BFD FantasyFootball: Donovan McNabb (Phi)
6.9:    PopcornAnyone?: Jerricho Cotchery (NYJ)
6.10:  Mattie T's Maulers: Kevin Curtis (Phi)
6.11:  Ditka Bus: Matt Hasselbeck (Sea)
6.12:  Greene Machine: Derek Anderson (Cle)

-------------------

Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Pick:   With the 64 overall pick, Bruno Boys Fantasy Football takes WR Roddy White from the Atlanta Falcons.

Bargain:  If Rudi Johnson returns to form, pre-2007, we are talking about a solid second Running Back with the 63rd overall pick. Unfortunately for the Smelly Socks this IS his RB2.

Even Money:  Wide Receivers Dwayne Bowe, Roddy White, Laveranues Coles, Chris Chambers, Hines Ward, Jerricho Cotchery and Kevin Curtis. All of these wide receivers have potential to have very nice games but when the season is all said and done, it will be suprising if anyone performs above the low-WR2 rung. Every year WR's come out of no where though and someone on this list could turn into the next Wes Welker. Quarterbacks Donovan McNabb, Matt Hasselbeck and Derek Anderson also should be considered even value. All three have solid potential to dominate in any given week. And these three were picked in the later part of Round Six, where as the QB's that have gone before this cost the teams high draft picks and when everything has played out the difference between the QB's in this type of scoring format will not be as big as some people may have originally thought. So the teams that waited on drafting a QB are starting to get rewarded.

Overpaid: San Diego Chargers DST. DST's just should not go this high unless you are filling out your starting lineup and you have dominated the draft so far. F Tiki has not and in our opinion should have adressed other needs instead of snagging a defense with the 62nd overall pick

2008 Stinky Tee's Live Draft - Round 7 Results

7.1:    Greene Machine:  Jeremy Shockey (NO)
7.2:    Ditka Bus:  Julius Jones (Sea)
7.3:    Mattie T's Maulers:  Vernon Davis (SF)
7.4:    Popcorn Anyone?:  Bobby Engram (Sea)
7.5:    BFDFantasyFootball:  Minnesota Vikings DST
7.6:    Fantasy Football Nerd:  Todd Heap (Bal)
7.7:    The Expertiest:  Chester Taylor (Min)
7.8:    Cobra Kai Dojo:  Marc Bulger (Stl)

7.9:    Bruno Boys Fantasy Football:  David Garrard (Jax)

7.10:  Smelly Socks: Joey Galloway (TB)
7.11:  F Tiki:  Selvin Young (Den)
7.12:  Ed Hochuli Fan Club: Bernard Berrian (Min)

-------------------

Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Pick:   With the 81 overall pick, Bruno Boys Fantasy Football takes QB David Garrard from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bargain: Tight End Jeremy Shockey. In normal drafts I would say Shockey going in the 7th is pretty much where he should be going, but in this draft where a lot of the TE's went in the 4th and 5th, Shockey in the 7th is a bargain. He should have a heck of a year and is a solid Tier 2 Tight End. And it only cost him a 7th instead of a 5th, which is where most tier 2 TE flew off the board. Also, we think snagging  Julius Jones in the 7th could be a bargain, as he will be getting plenty of carries as well as going out on pass patterns more than he did in his past. A very solid RB3 for Ditka Bus!

Even Money: TE's Vernon Davis and Todd Heap. Both can have solid years if they can get over their injury problems of the past. RB Selvin Young who would be rated higher if not for the RBBC approach that the Denver Broncos utilize. Marc Bulger and David Garrard who both should have a solid season and went 5-6 rounds later than where most of the QB's have gone. WR's Joey Galloway and Bernard Berrian who on any given week can put up solid numbers. Minnesota Vikings DST who is one of the better ones out there this year. BFD is pretty solid in his starting unit so adding this Team Defense only helps him.

Overpaid: WR Bobby Engram. This is a GREAT example on why you read the injury report before you draft!!! Could have been had much later in the draft! RB Chester Taylor who is only valuable this high in the draft if you are trying to handcuff him to Adrian Peterson. Since The Expertiest does not own Peterson this is a wasted draft pick unless Peterson gets hurt. He should have gone later in the draft if the team snagging him was a non Peterson owner..

2008 Stinky Tee's Live Draft - Round 8 Results

8.1:    Ed Hochuli Fan Club: Matt Forte (Chi)
8.2:    F Tiki: Nate Burleson (Sea)
8.3:    Smelly Socks: Deuce McAllister (NO)

8.4:    Bruno Boys Fantasy Football:  Donald Driver (GB)

8.5:    Cobra Kai Dojo: Rashard Mendenhall (Pit)
8.6:    The Expertiest: Reggie Williams (Jax)

8.7:    Fantasy Football Nerd: Santana Moss (Was)
8.8:    BFD FantasyFootball: Justin Fargas (Oak)
8.9:    PopcornAnyone?: Dallas Cowboys DST
8.10:  Mattie T's Maulers: New England Patriots DST
8.11:  Ditka Bus: Anthony Gonzalez (Ind)
8.12:  Greene Machine: Chicago Bears DST

-------------------------

Bruno Boys Fantasy Football Pick:   With the 88 overall pick, Bruno Boys Fantasy Football takes WR Donald Driver from the Green Bay Packers.

Bargain: Running Back Matt Forte who has the starting gig for the Chicago Bears. His value will be higher at the start of the season than it will be at the end of the season when Kevin Jones comes back from injury. But at least for half the regular fantasy football season getting a starting RB in the Eighth Round is solid!

Even Money: Wide Receivers Nate Burleson, Donald Driver, Reggie Williams, Santana Moss and Anthony Gonzalez. They are what they are, WR3's. Early on Burleson does have a shot at producing at a higher rate though with the injury to Engram, but outside of having a big game from time to time, you can't expect anything spectacular out of this bunch. They aren't going to win you many games, and they probably won't lose you any. RB's Deuce McAllister, Rashard Mendenhall and Justin Fargas. All solid RB's that are part of a RBBC.

Overpaid: Chicago Bears DST. In our opinion, there are still better DST's on the board than the Chicago Bears so spending an 8th round pick on them was a little unwise, but as far as a starting nine goes, Greene Machine may be the tops! His bench though is one of the weakest. The strategy for overpaying for talent to better your starting lineup has some downfalls. If injuries happen he is in a lot of trouble.

-------------------------

Rounds 6-8 were pretty average for the Bruno Boys. It was not horrible by any means, but none of the draft picks represented a bargain. You can't expect bargains in every round, and with the bargains that we were able to grab earlier in the draft it is time that we filled our starting lineup at the skilled positions, and that is exactly what we did. Wide Receivers Roddy White and Donald Driver are should be be consistent options and Quaterback David Garrard will produce above his average draft position in our opinion. All in all a productive three rounds.

How will the NINTH-ELEVENTH ROUNDS pan out for the Bruno Boys? You have to check back tomorrow to find out. But our strategy will still consist of not taking Team Defense's too early and not drafting a kicker until the final round. With that being said, we will be targeting the best bargains that we can find and plopping them on our bench. Yes, we could draft the best K's and DST's still on the boards but a solid bench can pay HUGE dividends during the long fantasy football season.
